World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it can increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive, dependent on who you employ and what you decide to do. This is due to how many perks must be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.

Item level is a popular measure of power, and can be found on all tooltips of items. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average level of an item can be found in the character sheet.

The level of an item can help players evaluate the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's an excellent indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it's capable of dealing with. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when looking at a vendor's inventory.

On your PC, you can view the item level using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are many theories about how the level of an item is calculated. One theory suggests that the level of an item is calculated by an equation that determines the worth of the stats of an item really are. It considers that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is usually close to the actual Blizzard level of the item.

However, this isn't the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, as the size of the area the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its haste rating or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game utilizes them in many ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon, and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat mods that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item may boost its stats. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a gray or white item can only be upgraded once, while an item with the rare tiers will be upgraded several times, at higher costs.

Another method to alter the stats on an item is to use affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all sizes and shapes. Affixes are used to give items additional damage or special abilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs), or to distinguish them by naming them.

All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and other items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other options for rerolling.

Players can upgrade an item to specific stats, or reroll affixes. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the range, unless it's an exclusive item or a God roll from a boss of a raid.

Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attachments, or pick which stats to increase. But as with base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item level, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't show all possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the strength of these properties. It doesn't, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is especially advantageous for early game runs, because players tend to put defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each level of the item. They can also be enhanced by using anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant a further +40 Luck or to increase the luck of an item, up to 140.

Moreover some items, like the Hollow infused weapon can be used to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available in the shops or made using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their chance of success or stop them from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading the item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased by so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of that item. Each item has a success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects may be obstructed by them. If  item upgrade  wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
